So basically you’re paying $50 a year for an app that doesn’t go anywhere. Almost all updates are bug fixed or minor teaks to “improve the functionality of the app”. I was grandfathered in to all the functionality that I previously had, but I’ve been watching their updates to the app and, they do nothing to justify the cost of the app. Their experiment of a subscription based PDF “Expert” failed and they discontinued that app.įast forward to 6 months to a year ago they moved PDF Expert from a one time payment to subscription based (does this sound similar to a previous app?). I could never understand the point of that app and they never had any meaningful updates that justified it’s $50 a year price point. Sometime during all this they actually made another app called PDF Office which was a subscription for $50 a year and it did almost nothing different from PDF Expert. Up till this point I was a satisfied regular paying user of the app. and that functionality was useful for me too, so I paid for that optional upgrade which I think was also $10. They later added some functionality to edit PDF files by adding images, redacting text, etc. I think in the beginning the main differentiator from the companion Documents app was that it could annotate PDF documents, so I bought it because that’s what I needed. I’ve been using for many years now, I originally payed what was probably $10 for it.
